Week 44 · October 25, 2026 · Season Wrap-Up
Gone Dormant. Back in February.
The grass is resting, and so is the Weekly Insight. Here's what to do while we're both off.
By BES-TEX Supply · San Angelo, Texas
Walk outside right now and look at your Bermuda. It's brown, it's quiet, and it's not asking you for a thing. That's not dead grass. That's grass resting up for next year.
The Weekly Insight works the same way. We write it for the growing season, Week 10 through Week 44, and this is the last issue of the year. Now we're resting up too.
The grass gets a winter break. The newsletter gets a winter break. The guy who writes it does not. You'll still find him at the counter.— FROM THE BES-TEX COUNTER
Your West Texas Winter To-Do ListFive things that matter while the yard sleeps.
-
Don't feed dormant grass.Fertilizer on brown Bermuda or St. Augustine doesn't help the lawn. It feeds the winter weeds.
-
Water trees in a dry winter.Trees are still using water when they're bare. If we go weeks without rain, give them a deep, slow soak.
-
Watch for winter weeds.Henbit, rescuegrass, and other cool-season weeds show up now. They're easiest to control while they're small.

February is pre-emergent month.Don't wait on us. Get your February pre-emergent down on time.
-
Get your equipment serviced now.Winter is the slow season in our shop. Bring your mower, trimmer, or blower in before the spring rush. We service the brands we sell, so the parts are on our shelf.
