TERMITICIDES

Types of Termiticides & Their Modes of Action

Repellent Termiticides

Mode of Action: Creates a chemical barrier that repels termites, preventing them from                  entering a structure.

Examples:

Permethrin (e.g., Permethrin SFR)

Cypermethrin (e.g., Demon WP, Cyper TC)

Non-Repellent Termiticides

Mode of Action: Termites pass through the treated soil without detecting the chemical, then spread it to the colony, leading to mass extermination.

Examples:

Fipronil (e.g., Termidor SC, Taurus SC)

Imidacloprid (e.g., Premise 75, Dominion 2L, I Max Pro)

Baiting Systems

Mode of Action: Worker termites consume the bait and share it within the colony, disrupting growth and reproduction.

Examples:

Hexaflumuron (e.g., Sentricon System)

Noviflumuron (e.g., Sentricon Always Active)

Organic & Natural Termiticides

Mode of Action: Uses natural compounds like essential oils to repel or kill termites.

Examples:

Orange Oil (e.g., XT-2000 Orange Oil Plus)

Borate-based (e.g., Bora-Care) – Prevents wood consumption by termites.

Each type has its application method and effectiveness, depending on the level of infestation and treatment area.
